To be able
to follow through the tutorials, it is required that
you've installed the Shogo Tools, and that all the
resources are properly extracted and available. In these
tutorials, we assume you know the basic stuff about the
LithTech level editor, and know how to do simple things
like creating brushes and adding objects to your world.
It is strongly recommended that you read through the
first part of this documentation (DEdit
Documentation)
and learn the basics of working with DEdit. After that,
you should check out some good tips from experienced
level designers from Monolith in the Strategies section of the Shogo
Object Documentation. These will help you to get to know DEdit,
and before you know it, you'll be well on your way. Although you can just extract all the Shogo resources in your Shogo directory, it is always better to extract it in a new directory. This is to overcome that you'll screw up the shogo resources and end up reinstalling everything. For the more advanced level designers out there, this shouldn't be a problem though. When creating a new project, you'll get the message "Cannot find object.dll" from DEdit. This is a known UI problem, all you need to do is close the project and copy the object.lto file (which you can extract from the Shogo resources) to the root of your new project. Remember that every world must have at least one GameStartPoint object and one WorldProperties object before you can run it. Please visit PlanetShogo regularly to check out the latest tutorials. |
