Sprites Tab |

Double-click a sprite file to
open it for editing. The Sprite Editor appears. The top
horizontal list shows textures available in the current
directory; the bottom horizontal list shows the texture
sequence of this sprite. To locate textures, click Change Dir. In the Resource Directories dialog box, select the directory with the textures you want to use. When you click OK, the top list in the Sprite Editor shows the textures in that directory. Select a texture in the lower list. Double-click a texture in the upper list to insert it into the sprite sequence, to the right of the texture previously selected. If you do not select a texture in the lower list, the new texture is inserted at the beginning of the sequence. Select Transparent or Translucent or change the Frame Rate, if desired. Click Save to save the sprite file and keep the Sprite Editor open. Click OK to save the sprite file and close the editor. Click Cancel to close the editor and abandon any changes made to the sprite file. While DEdit simplifies the creation of sprites, your ability to use them with objects depends on how the object class is defined. If the class has a property that accepts a sprite, you can set the value of that property in DEdit. (For more information, see the Properties Tab section.) If the class does not have such a property, you will need to edit the class code before you can utilize the sprites you create in DEdit. Sprites Tab Context Menu The context menu for the Sprite item view supports creating, deleting, cutting, copying, and pasting sprite files. Select Create New Sprite to display the New Sprite dialog box. Enter a name for the sprite. Click OK; DEdit creates the sprite file and then opens it in the Sprite Editor. |
