Process World

[Process World Dialog]Before you can run your world in a LithTech game, it must be compiled into the file format required by the game. On the World menu select Process World… to display the Processing Options dialog box. Select the following check boxes to add parameters to the processor command line:
  • Import Geometry: Select this item to import the geometry from an existing processed .DAT file.
  • Remove Unseen Geometry: Select this item to remove polygons that are on the exterior shell of the world.
  • Apply Lighting: Select this item to apply lightmapping to the world.
  • Ambient Light Color: Select this item to select a color from a color selection dialog.
  • Undersample: Select this item to do fewer samples, to improve performance.
  • Shadows: Select this item to create shadows.
  • Vertex Lighting Only: Select this item to do simple lighting, to improve performance.
  • Full Optimization: Select this item to significantly improve the frame rate, particularly for large worlds. Note, however, that selecting this option may extend compilation time to several hours.
  • Fast Approximation: Select this item to improves the frame rate, although not as much as the Full Optimization item. This option does not increase processing time very much, but it also does not improve the game speed a great deal.
  • Advanced: Select this item to reveal further choices. In particular, note that you can select Log File to create a processor report. The report contains the information displayed in the World Processor window, and is named worldname_n.dat, where n is a sequentially-increased digit used to create a unique filename. Note also that you can add parameters to the processor command-line that are not included in the Processing Options dialog box. For more information about those parameters, see the LithTech FAQ document.

Click OK to compile the world. The LithTech World Processor window appears, reporting computer statistics and compilation progress. Click OK to dismiss the window.
