Nodes Tab |
|||
This tab shows a tree view of the
nodes in the active (that is, open and selected) World
file and their relationships. Each World has a root node,
which cannot be modified in any way. All other nodes may
be renamed, deleted, or moved to a different container in
this World. The Nodes tab helps you organize brushes and objects as you design a world. The position of a node in this view does not affect its function in your world. There are nodes for containers, brushes, and objects. Any node can be a parent for other nodes, but container nodes have no other function. Because this is a standard treeview, double-clicking a parent node opens or collapses it. Double-clicking other nodes has no effect. Nodes can be selected in this tab by selecting the check box to the left of the name of the node. (This has the same effect as Click-T in the World Editing window; in fact, each action is reflected in the other view. For more information on selecting nodes, see the World Editing section .) Selecting a container node also selects its child nodes. The root node itself cannot be selected, but selecting its check box does select all nodes in the World. Nodes can be renamed in this tab. When a node name is highlighted, click again on its label. It becomes an editing field. To accept changes you make to the name, press ENTER. To abandon changes, press ESC. A node does not have to be selected (it does not need to have a check mark) to be renamed. Nodes can be deleted in this tab. Press the DELETE key to remove any selected nodes (that is, nodes with check marks). Nodes can be moved to a different parent. Drag a node with the mouse and drop it on the new parent. If the node you are moving is a parent node, all of its child nodes are also moved. Nodes Tab Context Menu The context menu for the Nodes tab supports adding, deleting, renaming, hiding, cutting, copying, and pasting nodes. Note that the context menu is only available on a node that is already highlighted (not necessarily selected). Select Add Container Node to create a new container node. Its name will be Node. Select Hide Node Toggle or Hide Children Toggle to hide or reveal a node and its children, or just the children. Hidden nodes are not drawn in the World Editing window, which increases the rendering speed of the editor and removes cluttering lines. In addition to not appearing in the World Editing window, the check box of a hidden node is grayed. It can still be selected in the Nodes tab, however, allowing you to locate a hidden node in the world view. |
